This is wonderfuI book. I get compliments on my dogs behavior all the time, this works! A great layout and easy to follow.
I bought this book because I wanted the information in it. I have followed this program with my Springer puppy and it does work. The point is. as leaders we have to spend time with our beloved pets and give them fun learning experiences with lots of strokes and treats. This gives a study guide for a six week class that will heLp you train your dog. My puppy progressed well in six weeks. Each dog learns a little differently but this book all give you some valuable information and a usable teaching plan. Its a fun easy read and a good source.
I found Shaffer's general approach helpful. What I missed was more specific information which would have helped me formulate and implement a training program for my dog.
Good book from a good trainer- sound, reasonable and practical advice on humane training with your dog. You don't need to be a "dog whisperer" or magician to get nice results with your dog. Follow the exercises and advice in this book faithfully, and you'll have a pleasant, well-mannered dog that will be welcomed in your home and community. Take it from me, an owner of a rather hyper and somewhat obnoxious young dog who has benefited greatly from these methods.
